SCHEDULED POWER SERVICE INTERRUPTION FOR JUNE 19, 2005

Visayan Electric Company, Inc.'s (VECO) Transmission and Distribution Department (T & D) has scheduled on June 19, 2005 the maintenance & upgrading of our primary lines that will require power interruption as follows:

1) Lateral portion of KBL221

at CABANCALAN substation.

Time: 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Purpose: To facilitate relocation of primary poles affected by the on-going

road widening project of DPWH at Binaliw area in Cebu City.

Areas/customers affected: Binaliw-1, 2, & 3, Agsungot, Guba, Adlawon, Mabini,

Paril, Cambinocot, Lusaran, Lanipga and part of Pit-os Talamban.

 

VECO apologizes for any inconvenience the temporary loss of power on Sunday might cause our customers.

Typhoon Dante Is Here

Typhoon "DANTE" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,080 kms east of Visayas (12.1°N 135.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph. Intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao. Southwesterly surface windflow prevailing over Western Luzon.

Metro Cebu: Cloudy with rainshowers and thunderstorms, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the south and southwest, coastal waters will be slight to moderate, temperature range 24 to 30°C (75 to 86°F).

NEW YORK  — America's "Idol" is ... Carrie Underwood!

It came down to the country girl vs. the rock star — and the country girl won.

Wednesday night, in a special two-hour finale live from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest announced who had won America's hearts: Underwood, the fresh-faced 22-year-old crooner from Checotah, Okla., who beat runner-up Bo Bice, the long-haired 29-year-old rocker from Helena, Ala.

Upon hearing she'd won the competition, Underwood burst into tears, but got herself together to sing what's become one of her signature songs: "Inside Your Heaven."

"Thank you America!" Carrie shouted at the end of the song.

Wednesday night also had other treats in store. Bo sang with Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Carrie with country trio Rascal Flatts. Many former "Idols" also made appearances.
